Kyle, Jeremy, and Daphne
Home: About Me
Who We Are

We met back in the Fall of 2013 by chance at the local mall. Jeremy was working in the mobile department at Best Buy and happened to be Kyle’s cashier. A week later, we had our first date at a bowling alley, playing two games (Kyle won!) and talking for hours. We were surprised at how much we had in common; both coming from families of six, our parents being from the Mid-West, growing up 30 minutes away from one another, and Kyle even working in Jeremy’s old school district. It was very clear that this was something special and we set up a second date right away. Six months later, we moved in together and started our lives as a happy couple.

While Jeremy was studying to get his education degree, Kyle worked as a teacher and church choir director and after a year and a half of adventures together, we got engaged. Jeremy proposed at the top of a local mountain as we took in the beautiful view and the moment was perfect.

We knew that with our strong work ethic, the importance we each place on our family and values, and the incredible examples of a happy and healthy marriage given to us by our parents, that this was the perfect match.

We were excited to start our lives together and on July 1st, 2017, we got married in our home church, surrounded by our family and friends. In September 2017, we purchased our home. In our search, it was important to us to live somewhere close to family, with an excellent school district, and a strong sense of community. We could not have found a better place to start our married life, only 45 minutes from both sets of parents, and in the same community where Kyle teaches.

After almost three happy years in our home, we decided that it was time to expand our family. We started our first adoption process in May of 2020 in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic. The time at home together made it all the more apparent that we were ready to become parents and as we worked from home we were able to educate ourselves about the process, prepare for the challenge of being parents, and begin to imagine our lives with a baby.

It was not long before our dream became a reality. After several months of waiting, we received a call the night before Thanksgiving that we matched with a couple and they had chosen us to parent their daughter. After many tears and the joy of telling our family and friends, we hastily prepared to welcome our daughter, who was due to be born in just 6 short weeks.

Three weeks later, we woke up to a text message from our daughter's birth mother and a phone call from our agency telling us that our daughter had been born. We threw clothes in suitcases, packed our car with all of our baby gear, and raced to meet her in South Carolina.

It was love at first sight.

We have had the honor of parenting our daughter for two and a half years now and have learned so much. We are so fortunate to have experienced the profound love and joy that comes from being a parent. We want to expand our family and welcome another boy or girl into our loving home.
